In 2008, the first 12 chapters of the book were leaked which caused the author to shut down the project. “I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely,” she wrote in a blog post at the time.
Others speculate that she will announce the sequel to her sci-fi romance novel The Host, which was published in 2008. Some fans pondered whether the clock has to do anything with her 2016 thriller novel The Chemist. However, Meyer could also be announcing an entirely new project.
