Fire Emblem Heroes is like many other mobile gacha games, in that characters are drawn at several levels of rarity, the highest level being five stars in Fire Emblem Heroes comes at a usual 5% rate when drawing from most summoning events. Semi-weekly, the developers of the game add alternative skins and characters to the game at differing rarities for a limited time, such as the most recent Perilous Seas event. Due to low draw rates, many characters become quite rare throughout the community.

The survey is given yearly by the subreddit moderators and does not take long before they release quite conclusive results. Some examples of data gathered from the survey in 2020 stated that a mere 0.5% of players had yet to receive the character Anna. This was incredibly interesting at the time, as the only access to a drawable Anna for players was locked at a five-star rarity in the limited-time Fire Emblem Heroes New Years event. On the other hand, the most popular character players had gotten to max level +10, was Brave Ike at a whopping 3.8%. Players at the time definitely wanted to invest in a strong sword user after discovering this information.
Currently, the subreddit is still accepting survey information from players to contribute to the 2021 results. While the community is still unsure of the current results, the popularity of Brave Ike has somewhat diminished and alternative Fire Emblem Three Houses lord skins have been appearing much more frequently at high levels of play. The results are cumulative though, meaning the sheer number of Brave Ikes throughout the game may still reign supreme in comparison to other units.
Fortunately, the moderators also remove the characters provided to the community automatically, as these would be unfair outliers in the data. Characters given freely like this are usually Fire Emblem Heroes original characters such as Prince Alphonse of Askr and Eir of Hel. The community looks excitedly towards the results of the 2021 survey, and towards what changes they may want to make for their teams accordingly.
Fire Emblem Heroes is available to play now for free on Android and IOS.
